Consumer Protection

District Attorney George Brauchler is committed not only to aggressively prosecuting perpetrators of crime, but is equally committed to preventing these crimes where possible. The District Attorney's Consumer Protection Bureau oversees a comprehensive program to educate consumers about scams and schemes operating in the Denver Metro area, and to assist those who have fallen victim to one of the numerous fraud events. The program has four elements:
  1. Crime Prevention Seminars are provided at no charge to any group, organization or business. For a description of the seminars available or to schedule a seminar, click on "Seminars.”
  2. CONSUMER ALERTS are issued whenever the District Attorney learns of scams that are operating in this area. Alerts are distributed by e-mail to community organizations, businesses, faith communities, home owner associations, etc. To receive ALERTS for your organization, send an email with your contact information to:
  3. The District Attorney’s Consumer Protection Line provides assistance to victims of crime and answers questions on white collar crime issues. If you have a question or need assistance, call 720-874-8547.
  4. The Bureau works with various media outlets to provide consumer protection information on a mass scale.

All services of the Consumer Protection Bureau are free to the public.
