IDENTITY THEFT

Identity theft is the #1 white collar crime in the United States and has been for the past decade.  All indications are that it will continue to be #1 in 2010, and most experts are expecting the problem to increase.  This section provides resources that will help you spot identity theft scams, avoid becoming a victim, and help you recover if you are victimized.  Additional help is available at the District Attorney's Consumer Protection Line, 720-874-8547, or from your local law enforcement agency.  A seminar entitled "This Is My Identity" is also available for any group, organization or business in Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert and Lincoln Counties.  The program is free and a description of the seminar may be found in the "Consumer Protection" portion of this website.
