DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Colorado Coalition Against Domestic Violence - This website provides information about the CCADV organization, and their services. It also includes basic safety precautions victims can take and a comprehensive list of crisis numbers for the state of Colorado. Domestic violence related articles, statistics, and links are also provided.

The Denver Center for Crime Victims - DCCV is a nonprofit agency that serves all victims of crime, including domestic violence. They provide a 24-hour hotline (303) 894-8000 (English) and (303) 718-8289 (Español) to access their services, which are provided at no cost to the victim. These services include referrals, assistance with emergency services, advocacy, crisis counseling, and support groups. They also provide specialized services to the elderly, persons with disabilities, children, and Spanish speaking individuals.

Abuse, Rape, and Domestic Violence Aid and Resource Collection - This site is for victims of violence, their families and friends, and the agencies and programs which serve them, both public and private. Issues addressed here currently include: domestic violence, stalking, and sexual assault. The child abuse and adult survivors of child sexual assault sections are currently being re-built and should be back online shortly.

Family Violence Prevention Fund - This site provides literature and resources for a variety of individuals, including children, teens, and immigrant women. Information pertaining to Judges, public policy and education, international issues, and health care are also highlighted. The website also provides details of the Violence Against Women Act of 1994.

Gateway - Gateway is a traditional shelter serving Arapahoe County. Services include counseling, outreach, shelter, and 24-hour crisis line. Services also available for Spanish speakers.

Leaving Abuse - This website provides comprehensive information for victims ready to leave an abusive relationship. It begins by detailing the cycle of abuse, including an abuser profile and the wheel of power. The site also includes detailed information on creating a safety plan: including how to cover finances, change an address, insuring privacy, and getting a divorce. A detailed page of domestic violence links can also be found here.

National Coalition Against Domestic Violence - NCADV is a national organization providing resources and information to victims, the general public, and other domestic violence agencies. Their website offers information pertaining to public policy, domestic violence statistics, and state level resources. A comprehensive listing of books and videos dealing with domestic violence is provided, along with links, publications, and international contacts.

National Center for Victims of Crime - The NCVC website provides information and resources ranging from public policy and litigation to stalking and victim assistance. The site also includes special sections for teens, dating violence, and victims of September 11th.

Project Safeguard - Project safeguard is a non-profit Colorado agency serving Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Denver, and surrounding counties. Their services include court support, legal advocacy, crisis intervention, and various clinics for victims of abuse. Their website provides contact information, including a crisis line, and articles pertaining to domestic abuse. Services at Project Safeguard are also available in Spanish.

Servicios de la Raza - Services for the Latino community including walk in crisis center, counseling for victims, alcohol treatment and workforce assistance.

Women’s Crisis and Family Outreach Center - A traditional shelter serving Douglas and Elbert Counties. Services include counseling, outreach, shelter, and legal advocacy.

Violence Against Women Online Resources - The VAWOR website provides information on sexual abuse, domestic violence, and stalking. The site contains a large document library with articles pertaining to advocacy, child custody and protection, and the criminal justice system.

Victim Services Network - Denver based website with assistance for crime victims, phone numbers to local agencies who provide assistance, Victim Rights’ information, and training and technical assistance. Also has an online assistance directory. This website is can be viewed in Spanish.

Womenslaw - An organization that provides understandable legal information for victims of domestic violence. The website includes sections on safety planning, Internet security, custody and kidnapping issues. Information pertaining to the military, immigrants, and teens is also provided. The website may also be viewed in Spanish.

Institute on Domestic Violence in the African American Community - This website offers a long list of resources for victims of domestic violence, runaway children, and missing children. They also post a newsletter covering domestic violence in the African American community.

Abuse of Power - Online resource for victims of police and firefighter domestic violence. Includes information on tactics of abuse, the impact on family members and friends, and how to work with the criminal justice system. The website also includes information for police officers and firefighters who are the victims of domestic abuse. Resources listed include the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799 SAFE and the Battered Women’s Justice Project at 1-800-903-0111, ext. 1.

United States Postal Service - The USPS website allows users to change their address, rent a P.O. Box, and have their mail forwarded to a new address, all online.

ADOLESCENTS

End Abuse - A section of the end abuse website, dedicated to teens. This section covers topics associated with dating violence, teen safety plans, and preventing teen domestic abuse.

Teen Victim Project - A teen resource through the Nation Center for Victims of Crime, including fact sheets covering bullying, sexual assault, trauma, and stalking.

Project Pave - A nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth to end the cycle of relationship violence. Relationship violence is emotional, sexual or physical violence experienced within a family or interpersonal relationship. Our goal is to stop the generational cycle of this violence by teaching youth positive social skills and counseling children and youth who have experienced such violence.

Safe Youth - A website dedicated to preventing violence against teens. Includes a section on dating violence and intimate partner violence, and sexual abuse for teenagers.

RESOURCES FOR MEN

Domestic Abuse Help - Domestic Abuse Helpline for Men and Women wants to remind you that intimate partner violence (IPV) is not and can not simply be defined as a social problem of "men beating on women." Men, women and children in heterosexual and same sex abusive relationships are affected.

LGBT

The Colorado Anti-Violence Program - dedicated to eliminating violence within and against the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) communities in Colorado, and providing the highest quality services to survivors. CAVP provides direct client services including crisis intervention, information, and referrals for LGBT victims of violence 24 hours a day.
