CENTENNIAL, March 11, 2014 – District Attorney George Brauchler is pleased to announce the 2014 District Attorney's Citizens Academy. This free, five-week academy for citizens of the 18th Judicial District will take place on consecutive Wednesday evenings, April 23 – May 21, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at 6450 S. Revere Parkway, Centennial, Colorado.
The Academy will provide a comprehensive look at the District Attorney's role in the criminal justice system. Attendees will get an experience that allows an in-depth look at what happens on a case between the time of arrest to post-conviction.
“Our Citizens Academy will give attendees an exclusive look at what goes into prosecuting a case in our jurisdiction,” said District Attorney George Brauchler. “By seeing what prosecutors do from the moment a case is received in our office, our goal is that attendees will be more informed and educated about all the laws and processes that ensure justice is achieved in the criminal system.”
In addition, attendees will get to explore the different functions of the specialized units within the District Attorney’s Office, including but not limited to the Special Victims Unit, Economic Crimes Unit, County Court, Appeals, and Juvenile Justice.
Participants must be at least 18-years-old, complete the application and pass a criminal background check in order to attend. There are 35 spaces available and preference will be given to first-time attendees.
