The Fall Academy will meet Wednesdays 6-9 p.m. for seven weeks, Sept. 15 – Oct. 27. Sessions will be at the District Attorney’s Arapahoe office, 6450 S. Revere Parkway in Centennial, except for the last evening, which will be held in one of the courtrooms of the Arapahoe courthouse.

Participants will learn about the work done at the DA’s office, from the time a local law enforcement agency recommends charges through a jury trial, with everything that can happen in between. Sessions are led by our staff experts and include topics such as human trafficking, organized crime, cold cases and diversion. The first night will offer an overview of our office and the jurisdiction from District Attorney Kellner.

The Citizens Academy is free, but registration and a background check are required. The application is available on our website at www.da18.org/community-outreach/citizens-academy/ . The application deadline is Aug. 27, and participants will be notified of acceptance the week of Sept. 6.

“We are excited to be able to interact with the community as they learn about what we do,” Kellner said. “This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who wants to learn more about criminal justice in the largest judicial district in the state of Colorado.”
